Polish brewers use native hop varieties including Lubelski, Marynka and Izabella, often alongside hops from the US and New Zealand.

Gdańsk and Polish breweries have brewed beers with pickled cucumbers, beetroot, brine, sea-salt flakes, smoked Łąck plums, and even pine shoots.

Baltic Porter is one of Poland’s best-known beer styles: strong, dark and usually rich in caramel, chocolate and dark-fruit flavours.

Fermenting just 3.8 litres of beer takes roughly 36 billion yeast cells. That’s a lot of tiny brewers working hard in every glass.
