Start on Nowogrodzka
If you only have one evening in Warsaw, spend it on and around Nowogrodzka, a short walk south of the Palace of Culture. This is the street that taught central Warsaw to drink Polish craft beer, and it's still where the serious tap walls cluster — you can visit three or four without ever calling a taxi.
That density is the single biggest difference from Gdańsk. Gdańsk's scene is woven into a compact historic Old Town; Warsaw's is a city-centre phenomenon spread across pub streets and neighbourhood multitaps, with more taps, more rotation, and more choice per square metre.
Two places to anchor the evening
Both are on Nowogrodzka, two minutes apart.
Kufle i Kapsle — city centre · Nowogrodzka 25
The original. A cellar-level room of bare brick and blackboards with 20 rotating taps served at four different temperatures matched to the style, plus classic English ale from hand pumps. Small, fills fast, and by the bar's own account it started Nowogrodzka's run as a craft beer street.
Order this: ask what's freshest and go Polish. The list rotates hard toward Polish IPAs and sours you won't find at home.
Jabeerwocky — city centre · Nowogrodzka 12
Seventeen taps of unpasteurised craft beer piped up from a proper cellar cold room, plus pizza and BBQ ribs — which matters more than it sounds when you're four beers in. Livelier and roomier than Kufle i Kapsle, and it takes bookings, so it's the safer bet for a group.
Order this: something hoppy and fresh on draught, with a pizza to share. Unpasteurised beer rewards drinking it young.
How Warsaw drinks
Two practical habits will make your evening better. First, order 0.3 l pours. Polish multitaps price by size and nobody blinks at a small measure — it's how you taste five beers instead of two. Second, check the tap list before you walk over. Most Warsaw multitaps publish live on ontap.pl, and on a good week that's the difference between catching a rare Baltic Porter and missing it by a day.
You don't need to wait for evening either. The city-centre pubs open early afternoon, and a tasting at 15:00 with daylight and empty seats is a genuinely better experience than shouting over a Friday crowd.
